Virgil gig next week at KF

I got an email today (sat) that one of Virg's gig's with FreakHouse was cancelled. He is playing at The Garage on Monday w/ D.U.S.T

Hi guys.I haven't posted on this board for a while but now I have to. My name is Magnus and I play drums in a band calle d.u.s.t We are from Iceland and we've been in Los Angeles for a week now,playing gigs with Freakhouse. had the priveledge of meeting Virgil and he's the nicest guy in the world! I was suppose to get a drumkit when I arrived in LA but it didn't work out in time for the shows.So at the first gig at a club called the Lingerie I played the house kit,a Mapex drumkit and it was terrible to say the least.The snaredrum head broke and it was pretty bad(I hate when you have to on kits that you're not familiar with at all).So..the next thing I know Virgil offers to lend me a snare drum for dust's remaining shows with Freakhouse.I was was like..YEAH that's great man thanks alot..but then,the day after I got a call from Virgil where he said I could play his kit!! I needed a beer after that phonecall [img]smile.gif[/img] !! So I played his kit and it was GREAT.Then on Friday I was invited to a CAB rehearsal ..MAN that was UNREAL..then after the rehearsal I hung a little with Virg and he gave me a copy of his obsessive rhythms video and some charts of songs he has written!! So I've had the time of my life here in LA. Freakhouse and dust will be playing at The garage on monday night. I'm sorry about the length of this post [img]smile.gif[/img]

DUDE! I saw your gig w/Freakhouse the other night. You were so solid. In fact, my buddy dug DUST much more than Freakhouse. Your snare also sound hot. I liked the space between a few fills where the band pulled back and it was just drums. Your snare/BD sound was great. Also, the hat fills when playing time on the ride were tasty. I have come to really have a renewed respect for the hard hitting groove drummer. In one sense, your playing was almost too perfect. You were like a clock without flaw. It was obvious you guys have been playing for some time and take practicing serious. In the context of your music (very similar to Freakhouse), it doesn't require "Virgil" type ability...which is good for us all. Your playing defined what I call a different type of technique, one possessed by Bonham, Porcaro, Rudd, and all the rest.

Jeez..Thanks alot PocketPlayer!..it means alot to me getting thoughts from a guy who obviously is VERY involved in drumming and knows what he's talking about ..THANKS!!!!
